Mukesh Jain, the 1989 batch IPS officer has been appointed Transport commissioner of Madhya Pradesh. He is considered to be close to Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Mukesh Jain’s appointment marks the culmination of a controversy that erupted on July 18 involving Madhukumar Babu, the previous transport commissioner.
Mukesh Jain had earlier served as the joint secretary in the Ministry of Power when Jyotiraditya Scindia was the union minister. Later, he was posted to the Ministry of Social Justice and was recently posted as the officer on special duty (OSD) at the Madhya Pradesh Bhawan in Delhi.
Mukesh Jain’s appointment gives an insight into how Jyotiraditya Scindia has clarified issues of transfers and postings in his new party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), besides getting 11 of his loyalists appointed as ministers in Madhya Pradesh.
Though Transport is considered as one of the corrupt department, it will be interesting to see what track is followed by Mukesh Jain.
